Hi
Lived in England for 35 years now been in New Zealand for 30+ years!
Visiting Ireland and West Coast Scotland (Mull, Fort William, Pitlochry, Edinburgh) next month.
Would appreciate any tips /advice on good birding spots.
Thanks
Nothing to match the bird watching near Dunedin!
It's been too long since I was up the West Coast of Scotland (other than the Outer Hebrides which isn't in your list), so am just replying to 'resurface' your post......just incase anyone can help.
Mull Charters do eagle spotting boat trips, but they book up quickly. I've not been with them, but they are highly rated, and bookable online.
I don't have any birding knowledge of these areas, but two online resources that deserve a mention. Birding Places https://www.birdingplaces.eu/en gives details on many places, mainly in Europe - it's a citizen led project. Watch out for external links under some locations as local knowledge would be really useful. Then there's eBird, a worldwide American site. https://ebird.org/explore Can take a bit of getting used to, but gives you an idea of what you may see at a location. Beware that with this site there are some bird species that have different name in the USA to Britain. Example: The Common Loon in the US is a Great Northern Diver here.
Great thanks and yes they are booked up !
