I believe this visitor demolishing the fat ball a few minutes ago is a lady of her type. More than happy to be corrected by the experts in this community.
Just went to make myself a cup of coffee and looking out the kitchen window spotted Woody’s girl monopolising the fat balls.
Anyway, I know woodpeckers can impact other nesting birds and go after their young which I don’t want to encourage. I’ve been enjoying the blue tit family and robins as well as blackbirds in and around our garden to not want to have the woodpeckers go after them.
Yes it is....though great rather than greater.
I get a pair of them on my bird table regularly. It's always the male who shows up first then as soon as he leaves the female arrives. It's handy you can sex them so easily.
