My next door neighbours have just put up a sound bird scarer which has scared all the birds away. Many of them were nesting. Is there anything I can do.
Good evening Kathi,
I was sad to see your post on this.
Firstly, is your relationship with the neighbours on solid ground?
Are you able to find out if they are targeting birds or particular ‘pests’ and have the settings incorrectly set?
Do you have pets? How are they faring?
Are the settings affecting you/ your household?
I can understand farmers using such devices but for people in residential areas unless they have real pest issues, surely visual scarers would be safer all round than sonic devices (which my guess is what your neighbours are using) due to the potential impact on pets and people.
If your pets or people in your household are affected via the frequencies of the neighbours device, you might be able to speak with your local council about it if your neighbours are not accommodating of your concerns.
I live close to the Essex/Suffolk border and speaking with many neighbours I’ve not known of any residents using sonic bird scarers in our village.
Hopefully, somebody else can respond to you on the legalities of such devices.
Kind regards,
Stephen
My husband had a word and they have turned it off. We are going away soon so I hope it stays off. The only pet I have is a rabbit.
My local council was my next stop bit our relationship with them is good other than he doesn't like wildlife - he has artificial grass.
