Was driving but saw solitary stork . Large white with black edges on back end v long pointed beak
I was surprised. Anyone else seen stalks in angus ? Might it have escaped?
linda
White Storks do breed in UK now, in southern England. Not aware of any sightings in Scotland though.
Didn't Linda post about one at Barons Haugh the other day? I'll see if I can find link
LINK ... not sure where you are in relation to Barons Haugh Linda?
Thanks. I seem to have missed the added posts a few days ago. Was offline most of Easter....my excuse. Could be same stork, or 'Stanley'?
I checked and there are storks in Camperdown. I've been wondering about whether it had "escaped" from there . My sighting was only about 2 miles away as the stork flies. It would be great if they were reintroduced into Scotland. Apparently in the netherlands some communities put cartwheels on their chimney's to encourage nesting
Lots of re-introductions in the UK in recent decade including in to the late 20th century including the re-introduction of Bustards on Salisbury Plain (ministry of defence land)

Ian.
