All our frogspawn was laid in the last week of February and we have lots of tadpoles. Unfortunately (?) there is still a pair of frogs, a male above a fat female, still joined in embrace. They have been like this for ages and I am concerned for their future. Surely this can’t go on for much longer can it? Any thoughts please.
Amplexus can last a while but I would be very concerned if they have been like that since February although apparently a pair of Peruvian toads stayed in amplexus for 4 months. Are they both alive still?Females are sometimes drowned by over amorous males or from exhaustion. I don't think I would be worried about disturbing them to check given that you have tadpoles and if they are dead given the issues with frog disease it might be best to remove them

Yes. I am also suspecting one is dead.
I’ve not seen them for a couple of days but that are still there and still alive. Any suggestions please?
