Please help, last year we had 7-8 slugs enter the Bird Box and kill the baby birds, how can we prevent this happening again? We didn't even realise that this was even possible!
Sounds like you have dense ivy (or similar) around the box. If it's a robin, prob best to leave that as is, but for some other species, so long as nesting hasn't commenced, might be worth clearing around it. Is the box against a wall? Copper is something that can be used to deter slugs and snails......it may be possible to fix copper around the entrance, around the hanging branch, on the wall etc, depending on what you've got there.
