I think a Snowy Egret is chilling out in my field. Is this normal, I’ve never seen it before and I’ve lived here for over 30 years.
That’s an American species. Most likely it is a Little Egret, but could also be a Cattle Egret, or a Great White Egret. None of these are now rare in the UK.
A photo will help narrow it down, but as Cris said, one of those other three.
I’ve had a look at the ones you’ve suggested but it’s white with a black beak so doesn’t really match.
It is a little egret then.
Thank you
Hi, we have a little egret in the field beside us. It doesnt appear to be able to fly, just walking about pecking at the ground. Should we contact someone about it?
Did it end up flying away?
