Release of caged bird

Someone has released a beloved bulbul bird from an aviary in my friend’s  garden ( temporary while the sun was shining) - it is now lost in Earls Court somewhere. The police have arrested the person who did it. The owner is devastated by the loss.

what can the perpetrator be charged with?

any ideas how to find the bird?

Any help appreciated.

  • This forum is probably the wrong place to ask this question. Although someone might reply with the answer. But this forum is for wild birds in the UK and not for birds kept in Avaries! The best place to look at is the 1981 wildlife and countryside act which has been updated in recent years and that might give you the answer. But this forum is for birds in the wild and not for birds kept in Avaries!

  • Thanks for the reply. The bulbul bird in question was born in captivity and is used to being cared for by his owner. He is a delightful bird and will be terrified in the wild. Whatever your view about aviary birds, please be assured that he was accustomed to an enormous cage and was the constant companion and friend to a caring man who is devastated by his loss. The police have arrested the perpetrator of what was a crime but sadly the bird has still not been found and is feared to have perished in the cold weather.
  • With this sort of loss/escape it's usually better to post on local face book groups in the hopes that someone spots it - how you then catch it is usually stealth and a fishing net or similar and hope for the best

  • Out of interest...

What specie of bulbul was it?
