Hi does anyone know if the female Backbird will keep feeding the 3 chicks on her own and teach them all they need to know? I’m giving her plenty of food to feed them. The male blackbird has only just gone missing 4 days ago. Thanks
They can. Obviously, assuming they make it out of the nest, she will struggle to get them to independence, but should be capable of getting them so far, esp with you helping.
In reply to Michael Ridyard:
The fledglings are 4 weeks old now and still being feed by their parents although they are starting to peck at food now. Yes they are still in the garden.
