Invertebrates in the garden this afternoon

I havnt had a good few days  recently . And birdwatching wise havnt been able to get out and about. I havnt bren out much this week due to something personal going on

I been mainly in the Garden. If any of my messages ever sound repeatative sometimes or if I don’t pick up on some social cues very well I apologise. Im on the autistic spectrum. So can happen. it’s not something I do on purpose. Im makeing lots of mistakes.
apart from that I did manage to go out in the garden.
And it was very sunny I even had a hoverfly Hover abouve my head. I would of sent this on insect 2022 but I don’t think it’s a good idea  I don’t know if animation  is defiantly ok too or if it’s just photos  so have just made a post for now.
I hope you enjoy the photos I took.

  • Ok. Thanks for your reply. Im on holiday with my family now but il be able to see or reply to things when I get back from holiday.

  • Im back now I went to Brighton

I went to Brighton Beach before going to have a scan of my kidneys to make sure the cysts have shrunk and the medication is working, and then I went to Rottingdean beach and went Rockpoolling then I stayed at a hotel and went to my appointment with My Tuberculosis Exspert to look at the scans and compare them and make sure everything is ok and then I went to Rottingdean Beach again when the tide was high and spent 2 hours  at the beach. My Dad   took photos of me and mum wasn’t sure if she might fall over and the waves got bigger sometimes so I held her hand to make sure she doesn’t fall over she went back but I was ok Cause Im good at maintaining my balance in rough waves. Mum wasn’t keen on the rough waves but I enjoyed it. Brighton Beach has lifeguards but Rottingdean Beach doesn’t so I had to be careful of sudden drops. .  And try to stay away from the deep the end. But it was fun seeing all the seaweed and other things going past me in the waterMum and Dad mainly sunbathed but I looked for sea creatures.

  • I'm glad you had a good holiday and enjoyed looking through your photos. I hope the scans have shown all is good with the kidneys and TB?

  • The Sirelemous is shrinking the cysts in my kidneys like it’s supposed to but the sirelemous levels tend to be lower in the afternoon and I had it done in the afternoon. But the levels are ok.
He also checked my Blood Test results for my blood Preassure and other things aswell. I have thalasemia Trait which means I have iron deficiency which makes me prone to Anemia
So I take iron tablets but they forgot to count the iron in the Blood results. But with my blood Preassure the tablet is working. Mum asked if the reason hes doing blood Preassure aswell is to do with Tuberculosis sclerosis aswell and He said the reason he does the blood Preassure aswell is cause even though you can be more prone to it as you get older in Tuberculosis with kidney and lung probloms or things on your kidneys and lungs or things that can cause problems with your kidneys and lungs with TS it can also give you a high risk of developing high blood pressure aswell.
The good news is the Blood Preassure tablets are working.

When I was at the coast it wasn’t hot it was ok
With the hotel Dad made the room freezing cold with the fan air conditioning  so I had to wear a jacket to keep warm the hotel is an hour away from the coast but for the temperature near the hotel it was 22 or 23 degrees celceus and the temperature would go down to 21 degrees celceus as we approached the coast and when we got there it was only 21 degrees celceus. So it’s cooler at the coast. It wasn’t windy until Friday but interestingly the temperature still went down even though there wasn’t any wind. So there must be other things that come into play that make the coast cooler.

I found out it was 25 degrees celceus in Gloucestershire while I was in Brighton so it was quiet hot. But it wasn’t in Brighton.
Its even hotter now though cause there’s a heatwave that has hit 36 degrees celceus here . Theres Red warning 4 And it covers Birmingham and London. It could reach much higher temperatures. (Maybe  even record breaking like 40 degrees celceus. Over here The air is so warm outside that the shade isn’t warm so you can’t cooll down in the shade that’s how hot the air is over here.

  • Good news on the cysts and its good the medical staff are monitoring other possible scenarios, it's easier to catch these things early.

As for the heat, I'm just to the east of Birmingham, and for me even the low 20's is close to being too hot for me, so hitting the 30+ is a nightmare!

Here we reached 41.6ºC (106.9ºF) on the 19th July, though the trailcams, which are not in any shade, when I downloaded them earlier today shown 48ºC (118.0ºF) !

  • Sorry I’m late replying. I forgot to leave a reply. Im actually abit forgetful at the moment Exspeacially today. After being back I been going through all the photos and videos from both my holidays.  with the heatwave I can’t believe it reached 40 and over in some places it was the driest July In 20 years. And there is yet another one. hopefuly it’s not 40 and over in some places again  but you never know for sure. Im abit mixed about the heatwave. I like heatwaves but they can be too hot sometimes. I like them cause insects and that are even more active than normal And also cause it reminds me of Menorca cause I used to go there every year and was and is my favourite place to go on holiday. It’s been dry for so long in Gloucestershire it’s like the new norm but at the same time it’s strange.

I learned some interesting things from Brighton and Thorpe Forest. One species your so used to seeing and don’t take much notice of might actually be a different species but looks like that species your used to seeing cause its in the same or similar family.  For example I saw a type of fly I havnt seen before  you might exspect it could turn out to be a big house fly or another everyday fly but it turned out to be a completely differant species of fly. A species could easily be very different and possibly even need help in Conservation  but easily be mistakened as a species Your used to seeing.

I have also found that sometimes things that look seemingly drab or just something you see every day  might be more to it than you exspect. Like at Beaches certain species of sea life will use objects around them to build a shell Shell to protect itself Includeing litter. Island  species of fungi like (mushrooms for example and trees actually have a symbiotic relationship with each other

fungi, are important to the ecosystem.  along with invertrevretes that help aerate the soil like ants Ant and worms.  snails Snail are food for song thrushes. Trees Evergreen tree are living things that feed nutrients to all the other trees. Trees can also respond to harm or damage  by humans or by other other threats by releaseing blood (sap.) and other trees know when a tree isn’t well or is un happy. if you go somewhere like the beach or in a proper Forest Exspeacially if it’s near or in protected habitats For example. you might find some specialist species or some rare ones. If not you might find some other very interesting species instead maybe even ones you havnt seen before.

Recently  I been deciding weather to stay vegetarian or be vegan. Cause I won’t eat animal meat. I wont eat actual proper eggs Egg you see in shops  But I don’t know weather I would eat things with eggs in there ingredients or not. Recently I only just found out how much things actually have meat in them. And a lot of things have meat in them. I havnt been looking at the ingredients of some of the things I eat like yogurts for example cause I thought they were just made of things like milk but aparantly they also have meat. I had a yogurt I take with my meds otherwise The meds make me feell nauseous and it turned out the yogurt had some pig in it I wasn’t happy. Im haveing to think more about what I buy to eat cause I don’t like meat that is from animals. I don’t mind if it’s from vegetables. One thing I am sure about is I won’t eat meat from living things though. Sorry it’s so long but I hope you found what I said interesting

  • No worries about the late reply, apart from which, you've had what looked like a fabulous holiday and shared your photos and stories with us, and that alone can take a lot of time to sift through, sort and edit.

I fully believe the issues you have with what foods to eat and what to avoid regarding the use of animal products. I used to work with someone who had to eat gluten free, and the misinformation around was horrendous. Add to that, eating out was like Russian Roulette, in that waiters/waitresses were poorly informed as to what was gluten free or not. I think the things have changed since then, but I can imagine it still being Russian Roulette.

As for vegan or vegetarian, only you can make that decision. However, I'm sure there are many reputable books, websites and organisations that can help you make an informed decision. But there will be plenty of misinformation.

  • Im still staying vegetarian but I’m trying to learn about egg ingredients and weather the ingredients from the eggs are from eggs that were taken in a wildlife friendly way. I don’t like egg but for the ingredients I don’t know how they went about the egg they got the ingredients from. I don’t really want to eat egg ingredients if a chick died inside the egg or any other way. Then put the ingredients thr egg is made of in the item and sold it. With proper eggs it says but with egg ingredients you can’t know what happened with the egg they got the ingredients from. Im still learning about egg ingredients and trying to figure it out. But I’m definitely Vegetarian. Even if I said no to egg ingredients meat from animals are a big no. Im very careful about books and things like that and I actually have to trust the information is accurate before reading. Exspeacially before sharing it with others cause you don’t want to acidently spread more misinformation. That goes for anything. But Exspeacially when it comes to wildlife and about the process that took place before it was sold and what ingredients things have weather its from animals or not. I don’t eat any fish related food Exspeacially since it was killed and people do over fish sometimes even if or when it’s acidental then there’s by catch and all sorts
  • On another note iv started struggling to concentrate on things I can usually concentrate a long time on even things I can concentrate on for hours cause of this heat cause My room is in the roof where warm air rises.  and as strange as it sounds im finding it easyer to cooll down outside than I am inside and finding it easyer to concentrate ouutside. Im still careful about being outside for too long though. Im sweating more frequently during the day regardless of weather I’m outside or inside which I don’t usuallt do aswell.  and have been all week. but Im able to stay out half an hour to an hour in heat before it getting too much. Im half  Greek Cypriot half English.  cause I have a English and Greek family.  I don’t know how to speak Greek  though cause my Mum is English.  I have inherited some things from my Greek family so I think it might be cause I have some of the Greek Cypriot in my blood and cause I used to go on holiday to Menorca every year before I moved to Gloucestershire that I don’t mind the heat we are haveing even though I don’t live in those hot countries and never have.

On another note too the uk has been dry for so long that drought has officially been declared in parts of the uk in the midlands, the east and some parts of the south including east anglia which is where I went holiday and took photos of the wildlife and there has been hose pipe bans in some parts of the uk. How are you doing with the heatwave near Birmingham?

  • If it's of any consolation, you're not alone struggling to concentrate in this heat.

There are probably more people than would admit, they are struggling in the heat, and for me, anything over 22ºC, is melting point plus!

While I'm sure you are doing, make sure you keep the fluids up, and if you can, have a fan in the room to circulate the air. Keep curtains/blinds closed to stop the sun penetrating through the glass and daft it may seem, keep windows closed. Keeping windows closed will prevent hot air from outside getting in, and using a fan to help circulate the air should make a difference.

It won't be perfect, but it will help.

Try not to drink iced or chilled drinks, tepid water or hot beverages (I'm not sure if any are non-vegetarian or not, though I know you will have sorted which are and which are not), will help.

Drinking iced or chilled drinks can make the body feel it is cooling down, when it isn't, and then the body, which is a unique piece of biological engineering, sets out to warm itself up, and that can make you feel hotter.

These were tips I learned while on a survival course run by the local Territorial Army unit a long time ago.

If you spend a long time in a car with aircon on, make sure you keep the fluids up. Aircon is a good dehydrator and can also make need more hydration, just as much as the sun does, which will also be beating through the glass of the car windows.

Digressing, aircon used in winter to deice a car is a good idea, daft it may seem. It doesn't thaw the ice, but it does remove the moisture content, which is basically all ice is.
