Invertebrates in the garden this afternoon

I havnt had a good few days  recently . And birdwatching wise havnt been able to get out and about. I havnt bren out much this week due to something personal going on

I been mainly in the Garden. If any of my messages ever sound repeatative sometimes or if I don’t pick up on some social cues very well I apologise. Im on the autistic spectrum. So can happen. it’s not something I do on purpose. Im makeing lots of mistakes.
apart from that I did manage to go out in the garden.
And it was very sunny I even had a hoverfly Hover abouve my head. I would of sent this on insect 2022 but I don’t think it’s a good idea  I don’t know if animation  is defiantly ok too or if it’s just photos  so have just made a post for now.
I hope you enjoy the photos I took.

  • I went to Highfield Garden world twice and the stream 2 or 3 times. A short ride in the car but not actually getting out was more often and most of the week was in the garden so I mainly been in the garden one of the knats I’ve taken are from Highfield garden world and the most recent is from the kitchen. Some of the insects and invertrebetes I took were from the stream but most of them were from the garden. I havnt really been getting out and about and the Cotswold hills have differant wildlife to what you see in the garden and one of them supports a rare Buttetfly and this is the right weather and time of year for Butterfly’s. Also in  warm weather if in open areas you get the sun full on with no obstruction Which is why I miss open spaces like Selsley common cause is very vast. That and there’s a sign that says 4 Buzzards nest in the woods there at the  common. And so people can see them.  Not only that you get Skylarks on Selsley Common in Spring and Summer which I want to get a picture of and film. While I know the insects and invertrebetes in the garden very well there was aIot of differant ones that turned up most of them were in or near the stones around my pond or near Some of the Ragwort I have in the garden or on some of the flowers near there. They were most active in the sun. Cause of the wall in the garden I don’t exspeariance the sun to the exstent I would in a open area the light changes from one spot to another. It’s on my Wildflower borders early in the morning when I have breackfast and on my pond later in the morning and stays on the pond most of the time. Due to factors like shadows from the tree and the wall block some of it out the sunniest areas are usually near or around the pond area. And the sun shineing on the insects makes the colourful ones show up well since it’s when the light hits them a certain way you see the iridescence. I had 2 Blue Tits one eat from my feeder and the other drink and wash there face in the bird bath the other had a go aswell. Apart from that I havnt had anything particularly interesting bird wise. The gulls have been very active and vocal flying over the garden landing on my chimney and 2 mates gulls doing a orchestra both looking up at the sky and calling together at the same time. Mimicking each other and sticking together aswell. The Woodpigeon has been eating and looking for nesting material but apart from that nothing really very surprising during the week I was mainly in the garden. Easter Sunday was a change cause I went to see Mum and the dogs for Easter Sunday. Before I went to her house I went to Highfield. Going to highfield wasn’t much of a change but was I was going to see was and to my surprise a Buzzard showed up I told Mum even though we are leaving I need to get a picture of it cause I been trying to get a proper photo and film of a Buzzard all month since they can be distant or silhouetted and this low one isn’t going to be at home then I went to Mums house and came back in the evening. Apart from Easter Sunday most of the week has been in the garden

  • Some Wildlife just appear without you knowing I find that’s defiantly the case with Birds of prey. I never know when a Bird of prey will turn up all I can do is increase my chances Of finding one. Even then there’s lots of factors like abundance of food demands of chicks during breeding season and also Seassonal tempratures weather patterns and other things aswell. Plus if there’s no thermals your not likely to see a Buzzard rideing a thermal If it’s not rideing a thermal it might be on the ground or perched on a branch or a post. Or other Buzzard things. Nature is still in charge. The day I saw that Buzzard I took a photo of and filmed I wasn’t exspecting to see it but did know it was more likely cause there was a lot of Thermals going on.

Invertrevretes wise I find they can be Easyer to chance upon since a lot of birds look for them. Sometimes I wonder something. The Woodpigeons don’t mind walking around me looking for food in Spring and Summer since they see me going out to places like hills and commons and looking at insects and invertrevretes in the garden then rather than in the Winter so do just see me as part of there surroundings around that time and tend to be more timid in Winter cause there not used to see me going out or going in the garden as much as normal then

They sometimes land behind my camara when I’m doing it at an angle my head isn’t in the way and they actually see the screen when I have zoomed in I allways wonder what they think of it and with the Starlings and other tamer insect eating birds they sometimes catch a glimpse of a worm or beetle on my camara and They do watch me with curiosity and intent when looking for insects and invertrevretes I allways wonder what they think when they see it magnified and I bet when I’m looking for insects it can draw attention to them to a certain extent.

I didn’t have a good day for photography yesterday I got very fustraited with my phone I forgot to bring my I pad and my phone couldn’t make its mind up weather the battery was full or not so kept going off every time I tryed to take a picture so spent most of the time watching a Bumblebee I couldn’t get a photo of includeing a flower and a bird on a fence and repeatedly trying to take a photo none were good cause my camara had a mind of its own and came on blurry if it let me use the camara and would only let me take 1 or 2 photos of a flower and then the rest blurry photos and only worked yesterday evening That was very fustraiting even though you don’t use a device like a I pad or phone have you ever had a fustraiting camara day like that?

  • I don’t have a cold or anything but I thought it would be worth mentioning that Im feeling under the weather so I might or might not post much photos this afternoon it just depends on how I’m feeling later on this afternoon or this evening. That doesn’t mean I’m not going to send any photos at all but that it might or might not be as much as normal it just depends on how I feell later or this evening

That's good, and no apology required for the delayed reply.

  • Ok. Luckily I been able to get out and about so far  this week..  Frustratingly I couldn’t go out and about yesterday cause someone wasn’t feeling well. Today I would of been able to go somewhere to see the ducks or something someone came round and was going to take me somewhere but they Wouldn’t take me cause she  had to deal with something important and was too short on time. she had less than half an hour so had to get back. so instead we could only go to the shops to get something important. So I took some pictures in the garden and did a Wildlife drawing. Im hopeing to get out and about somewhere on Saturday and Sunday if things go acording to plan and nothing goes wrong  again.

  • Since then I been able to get out and about abit more. Though this week I havnt been so lucky. But been arangeing things or places to go for next week and The Beginning of June. And had a lot going on and was very distracted and procupied. It probably hasn’t been the best week for this week but things are going back to normal. Sorry I havent been replying ot sending much this week. And sorry I havnt been able to see or reply to any messages until this evening I been more busy than normal. This morning The toaster broke and the room went up in steam- not on fire. The whole room was full of smoke and the alarm went off. so going to need a new toaster. And I was rushing cause someone was going to pick me up in 10 or 15 minutes. I went to Hucclecote and then I went to a Hedgehog Rehabilitation Centre open day. Then I went back to Hucclecote and then I came back at 6:30
