Counting

How do i know i am not double counting the same bird for Birdwatch?

  • …. and as long as the RSPB doesn’t make it clear (and it’s not difficult to do) that you’re to count the number of each bird that’s seen at any one time, they’re going to get totally misleading and pointless results.

There will always be an element of risk and that will be taken in to account, particularly as some people will genuinely struggle with ID's.

What I think is important is its engaging people to look at birds and other wildlife around them and some, not all, will endeavour to take greater care with how they view nature, the urban environment  and the countryside. Just one is a step in the right direction.

That in my opinion on its own has to be a plus.
