Just watched an Osprey fishing in Medmerry reserve for 40 mins

  • That's what I call a joyful birding experience! I wonder if it was a youngster on its first migration? 40 minutes seems a long time for an experienced bird.

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

  • A great sighting for you Jonathon, as Clare says it may be a youngster if it took so long fishing or maybe it was a poor area for fish. Youngsters are usually the last ones to leave the breeding area and these are the ones heading down through the UK about now.

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can
