Hi, I found this in the garden this morning, unfortunately it has succumbed to either the cold or more likely the neighbour's cat.
It does not look like any native finch with the broad yellow bill and 2 distinct dark stripes along the border of the bill an under the eye. No other obvious or unusual distinctive features.
After a search of the internet, the closest I can get is a yellow billed Zebra finch, a non native species, commonly kept as a songbird.
Any suggestions?
Such a shame though for such a beautiful little bird.
FYI location wise, we are in the New Forest.
