Hi my name is Jonathan Stott.
I have had a baby pigeon in my garden for the last 6 months or so.
I fed him alll the right things and we got into quite a routine, where he would come at specific times and was very friendly, even sitting on my back door step waiting for me on a morning and evening.
he would come at other times and call me as well which was funny, almost as if he just wanted company.
I got up this morning and opened the back door and he was there in a very distressed condition.
he hopped onto the back step and just lied down and tucked his head into his chest, just looking at me and shaking his wing repeatedly.
i called the vet and they said to take him down to be assessed.
I waited and they eventually told me he had broken his right wing, left wing and had broken both legs and had damage to his skeletal structure and the kindness thing was for him to be euthanised.
I don’t know how this happened, but I’m very upset and feel like crying.

What a very sad occurrence Jonathan, always hard to deal with the loss of any creature who has wormed it's way into one's affection & you did the kindest thing by getting it to Vet quickly! Only a guess but could it have been hit by a car?
I would be crying too, no shame in that!
Thank you for your reply. It has made me feel a lot better.
I’ve also got my snuggle bunny Daisy to cheer me up
Kind Regards
Jonathan Stott
She’s great and very loving.
She general sticks close by me and sits on sofa.
Hello Johathan, sorry to read about the pigeon, that must have been such a shock to see it like that. We get so attached to our feather friends that when something happens it makes us very sad and upset. It's almost as if the pigeon came back to your door to ask for help and upsetting as it must have been, it was the kindest thing that you have done, it will not suffer anymore. Chin up and be positive. On a happier note, Daisy sure looks like one spoiled, laid back dog. It is nice to have companions in the house, there is no harm in spoiling them, well some of the time!
Thank You.
that makes me feel better
He had been visiting me since it was a baby and strangely I think we had became oddly reliant on each other if that makes sense.
seemed to have built a kind of trust up.
He would come very close to me and wasn’t in the least bit phased by me as I had looked after him from being young.
has been a hard day and very upsetting opening the back door and seeing him in that state.
at least he is not suffering now.
Daisy says Hi.
