I would love to start taking good quality photos of all the beautiful birds in my garden so, would like to buy a camera. Can anyone recommend a good quality (not mega expensive) camera that can take photos up to 10 meters away? Thank you! :)
The other thing I don't think anyone has covered is the physical size and weight of the different cameras, although for mainly garden shots the weight shouldn't be an issue, it would be best to go to a shop and handle some cameras and see which fit comfortably in your hands.
You make a good point - the ergonomics are important. Not just size & weight but how it fits your hands, where the buttons sit, how easy the menus are to navigate are all important to the overall experience. If it's a pleasure to use, you'll use it more and get better at taking pictures. You can only tell that by handling the camera (though I guess that's a bit harder than normal at present!

Hi, Sadly I have a Panasonic Lumix FZ50 that I would have given you but sadly I took it down south a couple of months ago, I have given stuff away before on here its nice to help out other who are interested in wildlife like we all are on here, so best of luck with what ever you get.
Selling a lot of my gear and not doing bad I have sold about £2000 up to now and while looking for the charger for the 7DMkII came across the FZ50 so I must not have taken it down south with me, I have just taken two pictures from the front door the first one is at its widest it says on the camera equivalent to 35mm the second is taken at 420mm zoom and a crop from the 420mm picture.
