Hi,
We found a two young magpies in our garden yesterday. One seems to have a broken leg with some dried blood on its wing. The other has been hopping in the garden and behind bushes/ There seems to be something wrong with its wing. Both cannot fly at all. We managed catching the one with an injured leg and put it in our summer house with bird food and water (it has been eating ok). The other has been hopping on the ground only and feeding on the seeds we left on the garden ground. They both are very scared. We called Wildlife Welfare and they said they would not take the one with a broken leg and that we should call the vet and have them both put down. I really don't want to do this especially they are happily feeding despite disability/ injury. Could anyone suggest anything we could do to help them please?
Thank you.
Maisy
Hi Maisy,
Whereabouts do you live? There are many wildlife rescue centres out there that will treat and not euthanize.
Try www.helpwildlife.co.uk and see if there is a centre near you. If they have been 'catted' they will need antibiotics as a matter of urgency.
