MY GARDEN BIRDS DIDN'T TURN UP TODAY ... DID YOURS?

I am in East London, I have 17 feeders, Blue Tits, Finches, Robins, Black Birds, Starlings, Magpies, Jays, 15 species. Today a Robin, 2 Blue Tits and a Finch. Even the pigeon count was down. Squirrels still around. ANYONE ELSE NOTICE HOW QUIET IT WAS TODAY ?

  • Hi Ana, I am from the East End originally, but now live in Wales. The reason I am writing is because of your question, and the fact that here too we have the same situation. Well we do. Our Rooks are here as usual, but the smaller birds are very scarce. We have most of the Tit family visit, oodles of Gold Finches, some RedPolls, Chaffinches, Robins, Green Finches, and it is noticeably quiet out there. Wondered if they sense the Sparrow Hawk? We also have nesting Blue Tits, and they are still going to their nest, but more infrequently. It’s almost like the birds have taken heed to self isolate too.
