I found a baby blackbird and my cats were just about to get it. It's in my greenhouse, safe from the cats.
It's chirping but nothing is calling back. I assume the cats have had the parents.
What can I do for it. It has a few strawberries and nuts for it to eat. I don't know if that's any good.
We can't take it to a wildlife place until tomorrow. Will it be okay?
Hi, you do not say how old this bird might be & if it can feed itself ... Are you able to keep your cats indoors for a while & put the baby BB back in the open in case it's parents are still around? Failing that, best to offer live mealworms, chopped garden worms, chopped nuts & raisins, tinned Pedigree Chum puppy food also good, & fresh drinking water until you can get it to wildlife rehab!
You did your best at the time but general advice is to leave them in situ so that parent bird can see to them whilst they are protected by us from cat & dog predation ... a bit of food & fresh water placed nearby would do no harm!

I hope you're feeling better about things now, as Robbo said, probably couldn't have been saved anyway!
