After building their nest in a nestbox in my garden, the sound of little beaks was heard yesterday.
Work's stopped me posting too many updates on the family. The 10 chicks are all doing well, though one got separated for a couple of hours to the far end of the nest, and eventually got back into the fold. But parents are working tirelessly to feed and clean their nest. There's a good food supply in the garden to help them out. The mother is sleeping just off the babies until they nod off. She looks wrecked!
The chicks are 8 days old and starting to get mobile in the nest box. A couple of them were out of the main group for periods today.
This morning's update. Three chicks out of the pack. Just one did that for some time yesterday. Not sure if they'll get fed out there …
A few update videos from today. Points I've noticed:
1) they're cheeping - started hearing cheeping yesterday
2) they've got plenty feathers and look like proper birds
3) most get out of the nest dome
4) there seems to be just 8 - rather than the 10.
