Hello, I seen this Robin in work today, (the wirral). I was wondering why it's like this. Hope someone can help. Thanks.

It maybe is a case of being a frazzled male or female, looking after a nest and babies. I know the tits can look a bit dishevelled when nesting and feeding. I would have said it looks as if it could be a young one, but they would not have such a red breast yet. Hopefully someone will have other ideas.

From the photo it looks rather wet rather than anything else. That invariably makes the breast and white feathers look somewhat darker as the black skin shows through.

I didn't think it was a young one either, with the redness. It did get close to another Robin without being chased off.
