I have just put out a plant pot drip tray so the garden birds have some water. A thought occured to me, is tap water or water from my water butt best or does it not make a difference?
I always put tap water out, but there is info here about water from a butt https://www.rspb.org.uk/get-involved/activities/give-nature-a-home-in-your-garden/garden-activities/waterwise-gardening-install-a-water-butt-or-two/.
I think you would just have to watch bugs and stuff breeding in it.

In reply to Alan.:
Thanks Alan, i did wonder abouut bugs etc. I use the water butt for tubs etc. The small amount of tap water for a bird bath isn't really going to affect the wetlands, so i will continue with that.
