Hi Mary, welcome to the madhouse!
I only have LTT visitors in the Winter months, usually just a pair to a piece of trellis which is part of climbing rose arch ... this is away from main feeding area & quite open & I hang mesh feeders containing suet pellets & home made pastry but I find their absolute favourite is the suet log feeder!
Wish you luck!
Hello Wendy,
Thank you so much for theses prompt suggestions - will certainly try them!
All the best
Mary
We've just started to get long tailed tits in our garden at last. Found this post and I've got to make a log feeder, thanks Alan. Brilliant idea. As for pastry?? Who'd have thought!!?? ....and feeding from your hand too,HAZY I know what I'll be doing today ... drilling ol'e logs and mixing pastry
Thanks to Lucydot I found a way to keep the larger birds off our feeders, using relatively cheap hanging baskets. Instructions & pics here - https://community.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/f/feeding-garden-visitors/206053/diy-bird-feeder-cages-using-hanging-baskets-squirrel-pigeon-proof/1273482#1273482
Right, ... off to find a suitable log and get drilling
Done .... took a bit longer to drill / chip out the holes, but got there. Filled with pastry dough n' a few extras.
Just need the flock of long tailed tits to notice it now Thanks again Alan.
Thanks HAZY hahahaha .... yeh ... hope they like the grub n' dough lollies too

Lollipops is a community term for Long Tailed Tits ………….. ie., they look like a blob on a long stick LOL

My fault Boothy as I didn't explain the nickname properly. They are such cute little birds, always a delight to see as they constantly chatter to one another keeping in close contact.
