I have just found a starling in the back garden having been attacked by a Magpie. I have placed the starling in a shoe box with tissue paper but it is unable to stand or fly but alive, what should I do to help the starling?
As hard as it is, unless it is an endangered species that is being attacked, always best to not intervene. Difficult I know, but doing so ends up with an almost dead victim that can’t be helped, and a hungry predator that will have to do the same again with other victims.
My trail cam caught some Magpies hunting a juvenile Blackbird last year. They actually caught it on the wing. The parents tried their best to save it but were outnumbered and then some Jackdaws took over.
It's not pretty viewing.

Yes, never great viewing. Very widespread. (they looked like carrion crows in the background size and proportions wise). Again, if people put food out for birds, intelligent species like magpies will be attracted. Not saying that was the case in this example, but more food = more predation = more lost nests/eggs/young. IMO.
