Blue tits nest

Hi there, I have a nesting box on the front of my house which at the moment is home to a beautiful nest of what I think are about 8 eggs and a mummy ( I have a camera inside)

I have read that the partner of mum will regularly bring her food but i haven’t noticed him coming or going, is this normal and can the mum leave the nest to get food if she needs to?

  • Hi Danib,    the blue tit in your camera nest box may not have finished laying all her eggs yet; she will lay one a day and then start incubating them once she's almost finished laying them all (the reason for only incubating once almost all are laid is so that all the chicks will hatch around the same time);   until then she will go feed herself until she begins to incubate and then you will see the male help by bringing her food.   For a quick guide with timings on blue tit nesting you may find THIS LINK useful.    Happy bird watching via your nest box camera and hope you see some lovely fledglings around beginning of June,
