I'm giving serious consideration to buying this rather nifty piece of kit and was wondering if anyone on the forum has any experience with these cameras. This one has a voice activation feature and that will come in useful when filming the Robins at Leighton Moss next June. AO are currently selling it at £244 as part of their 'Black Friday' offers. That is a very good price.
Any feedback welcome.
MC, I loved, still do love, my GoPro 2.
Though its old by todays standards, it has served well in all weathers, and you may be aware I was an avid, no make that very active, hill and moorland walker, wild camping (responsibly), and it never let me down once.
It has a very wide angle lens, so often things can appear fisheye, but the focusing never has been a problem. The only drawback if there is one, the battery never lasted more than 30 mins, but then I never required more than 10-15 mins of video.
The links below will give you some idea what the finished video can look like, using the GoPro head mounted. Oh, and yes, that dirty peat filled water was lovely and fresh, no peat, grit or anything. When we decanted some into a glass, it was as clear as tap water....

The GoPro 7 will be of better spec, and quality, I hope that gives you a good idea of what to expect.

Good job you didn't hang around to purchase on that link I sent you Paul as they've sold out now ! I couldn't justify the purchase as there are far more pressing things for me to buy first. Enjoy the GoPro and look forward to the robin clips in due course. A snowy scene would be nice over winter lol

lol Alan, he knows who wears the trousers in this house - that is if he knows what's good for him and he still wants feeding ! To be honest he's more inclined to purchase than me and remember it was Mike who pressed the complete checkout process when it came to buying the 300mm lens as I dithered and dithered over the keyboard and Enter key lol He's a good lad, wouldn't change him !

You might also experiment with setting it up on the tripod - the wide angle of GoPros will give a good field of view and you'll get much steadier films, although it will only be for when you expect the Robin stay in a confined area, eg singing or feeding

Paul, have a look on YouTube at some of the videos posted by hill and moorland walkers, a good many also take still using GoPro's, and some of those still are very good.
I never took any stills with mine, but I've no doubt it would be as capable as any compact.
