A couple of weeks ago I caught a glimpse of a pair of these birds in my garden, yesterday a single bird landed on my feeder. First I thought it was a Black Cap. I then had doubts due to the light coloured vertical bar on the wings and black bar on the chest, which does not appear on photographs I have seen, nor the identification picture on this website.
Observations and positive Id would be appreciated.
I had a blackcap arrive- terrorised the birds on the feeder - in the end the feeder had come inside for a few days.
Nuthatches were a bit more resilient - but they eventually disappeared - didn't return for about 5 months
Bullfinch arrived to deal with the Blackcap
Short-lived victory for the Bullfinch- Blackcaps don't give up feeders easily
