Obviously plenty spam go unnoticed on this forum...like this person who joined beginning of March and still remains even though I have reported them....

Definitely not. If that is what Robbo said prev., then a novice like me would be foolish to risk such amateur bird identifications. Maybe best to just provide a link to the list of bird county recorders for every single bird identification request. That way, the small minority who post common garden birds and refuse to accept they are, can take it up with the county recorder instead of forum contributors. It does look like a dunnock to a novice like me though. Think I risk being deleted now.

I am new so obviously don't remember Mrs T (or IanH before her). I'd have thought a moderator needs to be able to communicate though. Re working weekends, yes, I think it was voluntary and for membership payers, would hope moderating still is.....and it could be largely automated for out of hours.....But, to moderate, I think adhering to the site's rules is probably rule number 1 for the role.
Aye well they must have been up into the wee small hours deleting every trace of him...what a sad person!
Linda257 said:Maybe they should delete "Ask an Expert" ...after all is there any? or are we just all keen birders
I agree. Under that category, it states, "The wildlife enquiries team answers interesting questions about all things wildlife".
Do they? I've not seen any wildlife enquiries team in the few mins I've been a member, or any answers from them.
Definitely a category that can go the way of Robbo. Definitely discriminatory......'Ask an expert' suggests anyone not replying to it isn't.....Also, people with experience don't need to be experts to have valid views.

RSPBailey isn't staff. There is no obvious staff input on the forum anymore.
All the moderators where on here for years and sadly that changed probably more than 5 years+ ago. There’re are reason for that. But the senior moderator who is greatly missed Mrs T (Claire is greatly missed since her retirement. It’s so long since the changes happened. I can’t remember the exact year it all changed. But members like me can remember when this forum started and it was nice being able to post with replies about birdwatching with all the moderators. Those where so much enjoyable days. There where very few problems that any of the moderators had ever to deal with. As I’ve said that all changed now and I sadly I don’t think we’ll go back to those enjoyable days in the forceable future!
Regards,
Ian.
