Hi can anyone tell me how to reduce the size of pictures I want to e mail to a friend? when it try it keeps saying"cannot attach to big a format"many thanks

You'll need to alter the image in a photo application of some kind. To simply change the size (and assuming you don't do any other tweaks), the normal Photos application on a Windows PC will work. Look for the Resize option (under the 3 dots menu)
