Siting sparrow boxes

The only wall we have for putting sparrow boxes on is west facing, would it be ok to make some boxes that would have holes north facing on this west facing wall. Would they use it if hole is on the side?

I am sure that nest boxes should face north/north west, mine are, I would think they should use them okay.
