Emails

Hi everyone,

Is it just me or is everyone else having problems with the emails from the forum?

I had very few yesterday, then when I switched on this morning there were 179 waiting for me in my in box. The same thing has happened today. Just the odd one or two have been coming in. I have just returned to my computer after a couple of hours break to find another huge batch waiting. Most of these relate to posts made much earlier today.

Cheers, Linda.

    Hi Sparrow

It is sensible to have separate areas for you e-mails because if one PC does not work you have the other.  Dave is talking about getting another PC for us at the moment for useage.

If our PC/BT is not working I go to the library, and use my hotmail address as an alternative area to e-mail people

Currently, Dave and I have our e-mails using the same area/PC  He is the main user, and I am the primary user with separate e-mail addresses

We see each others e-mails, and do not have a problems with that as we have nothing to hide.  I need to see Dave's e-mails as there are ones to do with his 'works and 'jobs' so I need to answer things for him

One odd thing i have noticed with my mails is there are a few that require 'a 'yes' to auto-reply to say you have seen the e-mail, and that has caused some havoc with the same e-mails coming back a couple of times.

I have my RSPB auto-replies sent to my 'Hotmail' address, and that is the best area for them otherwise things get very complicated with all the information in the main BT area ...and Dave grumbles too.

Gremlins is the answer at the moment, and I hope BT is not letting us down in any way at all

    Regards

    Kathy and Dave

Thank you Blackbird. What a nuisance for you. I haven't had that message from BT.

Hubby has his own computer with his own emails. We are both on the same account but with different addresses and computers. His are fine! Typical it is mine going haywire. It has happened before and gone away again.

Back in November a friend sent me an email with a photo attachment. No problems with it at all. Then a few weeks later the same email came in again. This was repeated every few weeks, exactly the same email !!! It seems there are grelins in cyberspace as well as the RSPB forum.

    Hi Kevin

Yes, the RSPB auto replies are quick off the mark, and they arrive in my inbox each and every time.

I am using forums where it takes a while for some of the auto replies to come through. So when you use the link on the auto reply you look at the thread and there have been another couple of posts added well ahead of what you have in your auto replies.

So that is one thing the RSPB does not suffer from and that is time lapse auto replies

Love to hear all about the photos situation being sorted and the e-mail duplications after that

    Regards

    Kathy and Dave

    Hello,

There is an issue that the community sends out duplicate emails, which is another thing we are looking at. Once the issue of the disappearing photos has been solved, duplicate emails should be next on the hitlist.

They do normally come through straight away for me however...

If I 'edit my profile' which one do I need to say 'no' to, to prevent emails about posts on the forum, but to not prevent emails about comments added onto 'my page' by friends and other members?

    Best wishes Chris

    Hi Chris,

The best thing to do is when replying to a post is to untick the box which says 'Email me replies to this post'. It's set by default to send emails to you, but if you untick it you'll not get any emails about that particular post. The box is found underneath where you write your reply.

If you leave the options in the 'edit my profile' section to receive emails you'll still get emails if people add comments to your page.

    Hope that's helpful,

    Kevin
