Emails

Hi everyone,

Is it just me or is everyone else having problems with the emails from the forum?

I had very few yesterday, then when I switched on this morning there were 179 waiting for me in my in box. The same thing has happened today. Just the odd one or two have been coming in. I have just returned to my computer after a couple of hours break to find another huge batch waiting. Most of these relate to posts made much earlier today.

Cheers, Linda.

  • The two options about emails are one for community emails so all comments on posts and the other is for notifications such as friend requests

    Hope this helps

  • Hi Sparrow, I logged of last night at about 11.30, got up this morning to 40 e.mails, I keep getting duplicate ones, I like receiving the e.mails though incase someone replies to me, I don't miss it then.

There is a sufficiency in the world for man's need but not for man's greed.

  • Thanks Bramble.

My point wasn't duplication of emails as this has always been the case. It was that the mails aren't coming in immediately after the post as they normally do. They are being stored somewhere in cyber space and then all arriving at once. There were another 80 this morning, and at least 75 of these were posts made during last evening, well before I logged off.

    Cheers, Linda.

  • Hi Sparrow, I wonder if that's just you, mine don't get stored like that and all come through at once, they come through as and when the posts are added, not immediatley but certainly within 5 or ten minutes. Poor you, it must be like going away on your hols every night and coming back to hundreds of e.emails to trawl through.

There is a sufficiency in the world for man's need but not for man's greed.

  • Hi Bishy,

I did wonder if it was my mail that is playing silly beggars.

LOL about coming back from hols ... nightmare!!!!

    Cheers, Linda.

    Hi Sparrow

Mails are coming in as normal here.

I keep the RSPB mails switched on as it they go to my 'other' mail box that I do not use so much.  So therefore auto-mails are not a problems.  I simply clear out the box every so often.

It is not so good when they come in as a batch as it causes confusion especially if there is one post that you are really want to keep up to date with.

    Regards

    Kathy and Dave

  • Hi Blackbird,

I do similar. I have an RSPB folder in my inbox and they are automatically filtered into that so I can look at them at leisure.

I think it must be my BT provider that is playing up.

    Cheers, Linda.

    Hi Sparrow

I am with BT here to and have had problems with receiving e-mails, (over the past few days), along with my partner Daves e-mails also over the last few days.  I have 600 e-mails landing in my e-mail box only this afternoon alone and it was a nightmare to sort through them

Just a question here that many be of interest to you - have you been asked to log in your BT internet e-mail (precaution) and have you been having error messages coming up on your screen

I have also received an e-mail from BT titled  'error 533 message, What you need to do'.  I read the e-mail. and it states that you need to add all your contacts on your BT contact list (so they are not blocked).

I thought oh no what a nightmare as we have over 200 contacts between us or more to sort out and it will take forever.

I rang the BT Helpline this afternoon and they said my e-mail settings where out and that is why it appeared that our e-mails where not coming through at all - or in large batches at one time.  So we are back cooking on gas once more

As for the e-mail message titled

'error 533 message, What you need to do'

is only relevant to third party users only and it does not affect myself or Dave.  I really hope that this one small BT upgrade was not the thing that caused havoc in my BT e-mail box.  Fair enough protecting customers and their information, but why do these upgrades have to affect everyone who uses BT.

I block my own e-mails from people who I want nothing to do with and that is the best thing to do.

Just thought this might be why your e-mails are a bit out at the moment.

    Regards

    Kathy and Dave

  • Thank you Blackbird. What a nuisance for you. I haven't had that message from BT.

Hubby has his own computer with his own emails. We are both on the same account but with different addresses and computers. His are fine! Typical it is mine going haywire. It has happened before and gone away again.

Back in November a friend sent me an email with a photo attachment. No problems with it at all. Then a few weeks later the same email came in again. This was repeated every few weeks, exactly the same email !!! It seems there are grelins in cyberspace as well as the RSPB forum.

    Cheers, Linda.

  • Hello,

There is an issue that the community sends out duplicate emails, which is another thing we are looking at. Once the issue of the disappearing photos has been solved, duplicate emails should be next on the hitlist.

They do normally come through straight away for me however...
