Hi, we saw this duck on our local pond. Please can you let us know if this is a Mallard (and explain the colouring) or if it is something new to us?

It’s a ‘mucky’ mallard. A hybrid between a domestic duck and a wild mallard. These come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and colours. Like feral pigeons.
