Greetings all. You'll see I'm no longer masquerading as a Scot but under my own colours as Bellman from Battersea. I look forward to learning something about the redwing here. Perhaps they followed me from Cairngorm, where I recall seeing them, but that was some years ago.

Well done Paul as you can see we are all easily confused on here...hopefully someone can now help you with your Redwings.

Welcome to the community from Sheffield (i think!)

Sorry for the confusion Paul (now Bellman !) and hope someone can answer your question on the Redwings.

Redwings would be an expected visitor according to Mr D. Nothing surprising unless they arrived in their hundreds. Battersea Park isn't a huge distance from me. Any other sightings apart from the Redwings?

{Gasp} don't even pretend about these things.!! That's fighting talk where I come from..........although I have moved and I don't live there any more.!! :-)

Alan: It’s Paul..A on flickr. I blame my parents, if they’d called me Hamish we wouldn’t be having this sort of trouble.!!

Bellman: Welcome from me as well, although I must say that you’ve given up a very good online name. :-)

Monkeycheese. Thanks, I'm used to flocks of redwings in farmland and heathland in winter but I didn't expect them in a London park; a pleasure though. They aren't on the list kept by the Friends of Battersea Park. Do they come to the park every winter?

  • In reply to Paul A:

Thanks for your welcome Paul A. when I was a boy our fine forename was rare, but Newman and McCartney spoiled that.
