OK, so we're back after some downtime...

  • I don't know whether anybody has read the Community Terms & Conditions but it says there that the Site is hosted by a USA Company

"The RSPB Community site is securely hosted by a USA-based company (Verint Americas Inc. Registered address: 175 Broadhollow Road, Melville, NY 11747, United States with principle business address at 800 North Point Parkway, Alpharetta, Georgia 30005). Therefore any personal data you provide will be transferred to the United States and may be accessed in the United States."

Not sure whether that means the servers are located in the USA or here.

If you've got the stamina it's probably worth reading the T&C's particularly concerning posting images and other material that doesn't belong to you.

Yes, servers are in the US (San Antonio it would seem).  The wonders of the Internet :-)

If anyone is concerned about their images I certainly wouldn't put them in the photos section of the groups, if you click on the photos at the bottom of the homepage you will see a download button.

Just to add to the concerns folk may have about photos posted, there are apps out there for mobile devices where you can add a watermark/copyright, or, using various desktop/laptop picture editing suites, you can add your own text/watermark.

For Android, I use Addwatermark, which serves my purpose perfectly, for now, though I do use Photoshop on the desktop.
